Ian is a Consultant at Thomson Wilks Attorneys. Ian forms part of the firm’s corporate and commercial department. Ian has a transactional practice with a focus on banking and financing as well as corporate matters.
Ian specialises in banking and finance, energy, infrastructure, mining and commodities, technology and innovation. Ian has extensive experience advising on acquisition finance, corporate banking, development finance, debt capital markets, investor services, exchange control, global markets, real estate finance, project finance and cross-jurisdictional finance.
He has advised on projects undertaken in African jurisdictions and several European jurisdictions.
Ian has represented companies, government and parastatal entities, independent power producers, investment funds and lenders in the development, acquisition, financing, restructuring and divestiture of projects in SADC and several European countries.
Ian has significant merger and acquisition experience in the technology, retail, real estate and mining space. The work undertaken also includes competition law advice and prosecuting merger filings on behalf of clients within the SADC countries.
