Berning Robertson is a litigation and corporate attorney with a strong focus on the shipping and logistics sector. He has over a decade’s experience in practice.

He specialises in High Court litigation and private arbitrations, especially maritime law which includes litigation to enforce maritime claims, the international sale of goods, clearing and forwarding and goods in transit insurance He further regularly represents clients in corporate, commercial, professional liability insurance and administrative law related disputes

Berning also advises on customs and excise issues in respect of the seizure and detention of vessels and cargo by authorities, customs compliance, setting up of bonded warehouses, tariff classification disputes and litigation against the South African Revenue Services.

His experience extends to the drafting and vetting of corporate and commercial contracts, cross-border transactions, corporate governance, restructuring, due diligence and compliance

He has LLB and LLM (Import and Export Law) degrees from North West University and is an admitted attorney and conveyancer with the right of appearance in the High Court of South Africa.
