Cameron is a Senior Associate Attorney and Corporate Governance Professional at Thomson Wilks, based in the Cape Town office. He currently heads up the firm’s Company Secretarial Services Department. With five years of experience in the legal and corporate sectors, his practice focuses on corporate compliance, governance, risk management, and civil litigation.

Cameron’s background is uniquely multi-disciplinary:

• Corporate Governance & Compliance: He advises boards of directors on statutory and fiduciary responsibilities, manages board and shareholder meetings, and oversees CIPC filings, including beneficial ownership disclosures and annual returns.‍
• Litigation & Dispute Resolution: He has extensive experience in high court and magistrate’s court litigation, specifically in asset recovery, foreclosures, and liquidations. He also represent clients in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) through negotiation and settlement.‍
• Maritime Background: Prior to entering the legal field, Cameron served as a navigating officer in the maritime industry for Safmarine and Maersk Line, providing him with unique insight into maritime and shipping law
• Professional Development: Cameron holds a Harvard VPAL certificate in Cybersecurity Risk Management and has completed advanced training in corporate governance, business systems analysis, and CIPC compliance.

In his capacity as the head of the Company Secretarial Services Department, Cameron has managed and overseen several key matters, including:

• Corporate Secretarial Oversight: Managing secretarial services for a diverse client base ranging from private individuals to major JSE-listed companies.
• Entity Formations & Conversions: Facilitating the formation of private companies (Standard Short and Long MOIs), Non-Profit Companies (NPCs), and the conversion of close corporations to private companies.
• Statutory Compliance Audits: Leading the preparation and submission of CIPC compliance checklists and ensuring adherence to the Companies Act for multiple corporate entities.
• Cross-Border Advisory Support: Acting as a primary contact for cross-border legal complexities through our international network with the DWF Group, which spans over 35 global commercial centres.
• Commercial Drafting: Drafting various commercial contracts, including share sale agreements, acknowledgments of debt, and customized Memoranda of Incorporation (MOI).
• Litigation Portfolio: Successfully managing legal recovery litigation, including return of assets and liquidations, while serving as a correspondent attorney for various firms in Cape Town.
