Kgomotso Sibeko

Kgomotso Sibeko is a Consultant Attorney at Thomson Wilks in the Sandton office with more than 20 years’ experience advising organisations across the ICT, telecommunications and financial services sectors. Her practice focuses on technology law, data protection and privacy, corporate and commercial law and complex technology-driven contracting, supported by extensive in-house experience within major South African and multinational organisations.

Kgomotso has significant experience advising businesses operating across Southern Africa, including Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, eSwatini, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Her work has included responsibility for regional data protection and privacy matters, aligning global contractual terms with POPIA, assessing compliance against international standards including the GDPR and working with cyber security teams on risk assessments and customer-related security incidents.

Her commercial practice includes the drafting and negotiation of technology and telecommunications agreements, including software licensing, hardware, consulting, support, maintenance, master services, network and interconnection agreements. She has advised procurement and sourcing teams, financial institutions, multinational businesses, state-owned entities and other organisations on contracting, regulatory compliance, risk management and strategic commercial arrangements. Kgomotso has also held senior in-house leadership roles, including Head of Legal within a major financial services group’s technology division.

Kgomotso holds an LLB and a Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Law and was admitted as an attorney in 2001. She has further qualifications in risk management, data privacy and protection, diversity and inclusion, entertainment law and senior management. She is also a member of the Institute of Directors South Africa.
