Academic

Alex completed his undergraduate LLB and structured LLM (cum laude) at Stellenbosch University.

Focus areas in his master’s degree included copyright law, competition law, international labour and social security law, and the enforceability of restraint of trade agreements.

Career

Alex completed his practical vocational training at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Incorporated from January 2022 to January 2024, after which he was retained as an associate from January 2024 to February 2025.

He started at Thomson Wilks Incorporated as an associate in March 2025.

o    applications and referrals in the Labour Court; including interdicting unlawful conduct during strike action;

o    High Court applications under the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act;

o    appeals to the Labour Appeal Court;

o    applications in the Constitutional Court;

Other:

o    chairing disciplinary enquiries;

o    workplace investigations.
